In 2003 an international gathering of glass artists, aficionados and collectors descended on Louisville, Kentucky to participate in "A Celebration of Glass," a four month long exploration of the full artistic expression of glass. The centerpieces of the event were five major exhibitions, including:

• Dale Chihuly's Baskets and New Works,
• an international survey of architectural glass art,
• an international glass vessel invitational,
• Rick Beck's Sculpture exhibit, and
• an exhibition of glass from Louisville collections.
